(Double bill with Ferreira / Fauller)
Margô Assis / Eugênio Paccelli Horta
»Desenho«
German Premier / Talk with the audience: 22nd April, after the performance
The drawing is the space of action in which the dancer Margô Assis and
the artist Eugênio Paccelli Horta meet in order to expand their aesthetic
contacts in a common dialogue. Their basic material, paper, is called “papel” in
Portuguese. This is also the word for the role one would play on stage. The
two artists form, cut out and develop their ideas with paper.
Eugênio Paccelli Horta associates all the steps of intellectual and sculptural
work with drawings. In contrast, for Margô Assis they are the development
of the movement in space as she experiences it. Drawing and dance flow together
in a common space, without one dominating the other. Instead, they develop
dialogues that sometimes take form in drawings, sometimes in movement.
Their
performances are titled “Section”, “Envelope”, “Butterfly”, “Prosthesis” and “Extract”.
They were created from experiments where they attempted to understand sculptural
elements and movement from the perspective of drawing. For this approach they
used simple drawing material: paper, pencils, scissors, cutters, tape, etc.
